- 2024 Bar Poker Open Florida World Championship Final Table Results
- Day 2 Action
"I've never won a big live tournament like this," announced John Germano of the Eastern Poker Tour as he stomped through the 396 player field to become the 2024 Bar Poker Open Florida World Championship victor. A wild day of play was expected as the final day, and it more than lived up to those expectations.
After an exciting final table, Germano bested Pierre Agenor in heads-up play. This effort has earned him the first place prize of $30,001 as well as a ClubWPTGold $5M GTD Passport worth $2,500. The total prize pool was $114,550, with the top five players making over $6,000.
When asked if there was a turning point where he could win the event, Germano explained that he noticed that players at the final table were playing passively. As he built up a bigger stack, he used it to "put pressure on the other players." Germano admitted that "there was a lot of luck involved, too," as he seemed to find big hands in key spots. He found pocket kings in two separate hands on the final table and won both times.

Day 2 Action
Monday was expected to see fast play, as under half the field entered the day with more than 20 big blinds. Within two hours of play, only 27 of the 40-player field remained. Under an hour later, the two-table redraw occurred between the remaining 18 players.
Early casualties included David Rose who's small pocket pair lost to Germano's full house. Germano sat just shy of 1,000,000 heading into the two-table redraw.
Rapid busts occurred until Tracy Maynard-Harris fell To Agenor's quads with an ace kicker. Agenor was the chip leader heading into the final table with a third of the chips in play. A two-hour break occurred as the final table was set to stream to a winner.
The first elimination of the final table was a brutal cooler in Agenor's favor. Pablo Sierra flopped top pair and lost two a runner-runner straight after jamming the flop. Agenor continued to add to his stack, gaining nearly half of the chips in play by the time play was six-handed.
Germano's tournament life was on the line as he flopped top pair against a straight and flush draw. His top pair held, and he shortly after eliminated the same player John Sarappa to grow his stack to the second largest.
Germano found back-to-back eliminations on Brandon Strickland and Patrick Martorella to become the chip leader as play was down to four-handed. Both playing under ten big blinds, the short stacks of Gerald McKinney Jr. and Albert Harris soon fell to set up heads-up play.
Germano won back-to-back hands to increase his stack to over 80 percent of the chips in play. Agenor found himself all in with bottom pair against Germano's top pair. The turn gave Agenor hope as he turned two pair to take the lead. Unfortunately, the 6♥on the river gave Germano a straight to send Agenor home in second place.

- Two or more players can play the game, and there are several variations with different rules and subtleties. Since it can greatly affect your approach and strategy, it is essential that you become familiar with the particular rules of the version you are playing. Understanding the fundamentals of card values & the significance of discards is essential in addition to being aware of the rules. Understanding how the point values on each card impact your final score will help you make wiser choices while playing. For example, in many variations of rummy, numbered cards retain their face value while face cards are worth ten points. 25-01-04
- When choosing which cards to keep or discard, this information can help you make decisions. Also, understanding the importance of the discard pile can help you learn more about your opponents' hand combinations, enabling you to predict their moves and modify your approach appropriately. You position yourself for success as you learn more about the nuances of rummy by becoming proficient in these fundamentals. In rummy, having a winning mentality is essential since it affects both your gameplay and your enjoyment of the game as a whole. 25-01-04
- Because you must recall both your own cards and the cards that your opponents have revealed, this exercise calls for focus and memory. Focus first on the high-value cards that are essential for creating melds in order to become proficient at card counting in rummy. Make a mental note of which cards other players have laid down & which have been taken from the discard pile. With this knowledge, you can make strategic decisions regarding your own hand and determine what melds your opponents might be attempting to achieve. When you see that a number of high-value cards have already been thrown away, for instance, you might decide to keep lower-value cards that might still make good combinations. You'll discover that as you practice this ability, it improves both your overall gameplay and decision-making. 25-01-04

- Jokers are incredibly useful for completing combinations that might otherwise be challenging or impossible to accomplish because they can represent any card in the deck, depending on the particular rules of the version you're playing. Jokers should not be randomly added to any meld in order to take advantage of this advantage; instead, they must be used strategically. A joker, for example, can be a useful tool in filling the gap in a strong hand that contains multiple high-value cards but is missing one essential card for a set or run. But it's also critical to consider how your jokers relate to the hands of your opponents. An opponent may be nearing victory if you observe that they have picked up a joker or have laid down melds that contain one. When this happens, think about changing your approach to either stop them from moving forward or speed up your own melding process before they can take advantage of you. 25-01-04
- Players who want to develop this mindset need to practice patience, focus, and flexibility. Rummy calls for strategic thinking & the capacity to read your opponents; it's not just about luck. Gaining patience enables you to wait for the ideal opportunity to act instead of making snap judgments that might endanger your position. This entails spending some time examining your hand, thinking about possible melds, & watching the cards that other players are discarding. A focused player can more easily follow the game's progression and make wise decisions that support their plan. An additional essential element of a winning mentality is adaptability. 25-01-04
- Forming runs, which frequently call for fewer specific cards than sets, are a good way to start the game. You're only one card away from finishing a run with a 4 or an 8 if you have a 5, 6, & 7 of hearts, for instance. Also, adaptability is essential when creating melds. Be willing to modify your plan of action in response to new cards that you draw during the game. 25-01-04

- You might force opponents to make snap decisions or discard important cards that could help you later if you hold onto melds longer than is necessary. This strategy necessitates closely observing the actions of opponents and recognizing when they might feel under pressure to act fast. You will be better able to handle challenging situations & outsmart even experienced players if you incorporate these sophisticated strategies into your gameplay repertoire. 25-01-04
